We have had a busy time in the garden!

Our ever helpful Benny was on hand to supervise!

The Enviro Club has been hard at work throughout the term and we ended on a high note. We took what we learnt from the Eye on Nature Day and applied it to our own garden. We have created our own self watering pots and have planted varieties of lettuce in them.
Our garden is coming along nicely and if we can keep the white butterfly from laying eggs everywhere we should have a great crop to share later on in the year!
Feel free to come and visit but remember that we have worked hard and our plants are busy growing so please don't touch :-)

Celebrating Cultures

We thoroughly enjoyed inquiring about our own and other cultures, presenting our findings as 'countries in boxes' and having a shared lunch with room 18. It was so interesting to learn about all the amazing things from other countries e.g. languages, food, landmarks, important people, populations etc.

Eye on Nature Environmental Day 2016

On Thursday 7th April most of the Enviro Club went to the Eye On Nature environmental day at the Botanic Gardens.
We had an amazing time and learnt a lot. We went for a bush walk and learnt about creatures living there, how the trees keep it cool and that our rivers and streams need to be clean.
We had a talk about sustainable fishing from LegaSea and we all got to hold a snapper (some for the very first time).
We planted lettuce in a self watering recycled drink bottle and then made an origami sea bird.
It was a day where we learnt and had fun… the best type of day!

My favourite part of the day was holding the snapper because it was stinky and smelly.

My favourite part of the day was putting the plant in the pump bottle with Aston. I had so much fun.

My highlight of the trip to the Botanical Gardens was when we went on the bush walk, I got to see different types of trees, it was so awesome!!!!!
Connor Rm14

My favourite part of the Botanical Gardens was everything, but my highlights were making the plant pot and getting my hands dirty. I am loving planting in the gardens. This is great :-)
Ryan Rm14

My most favourite part was doing the bushwalk and learning about the Dragonflies. I wish that we could of stayed the whole day and learned about more. I loved it!
Rachel Rm18

My favourite thing was when I could touch the snapper because it was slimy and scaly.
Anna Rm18

My favourite part was the fish tent because I learnt how to hold a fish and what’s happening that’s in the ocean and all the rubbish.
Ashley Rm20

My favourite part is when we planted the plant in the bottle.
Kingeon Rm14

My favourite part of the trip was the Art Gallery because one of the schools used milk bottle lids to make art. I also enjoyed the maze how you started at the start and ended at the start.

My favourite part of the day was going into the aquarium.
