Valentine's Hearts

This week, we explored how the heart pumps blood. We saw evidence that the heart is a muscle which squeezes blood, similar to a squeeze toy that squeezes water. Then we did an activity that combined science with art, where we figured out how big our own heart is, took our pulse, and created a Valentine's card to our heart.
You can encourage your child's curiosity at home! Ask them to explain to you: "What exactly is happening when the heart makes that 'thump thump' sound?"

We also created some Maths Art to celebrate Valentine's Day. We reflected a design on to a paper heart and then used the heart petals to create a flower with rotational symmetry.

Take a look at our beautiful work.

Tip* put video in full screen and turn up the volume :)
